Insomnia, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia
Dr. Thomas’ research interests involve the evaluation and treatment of comorbid insomnia and obstructive sleep apnea (COMISA), especially in understanding how treating insomnia symptoms through behavioral interventions can improve the management of obstructive sleep apnea for Veterans.
Mark Thomas, PhD, DBSM, is a licensed clinical psychologist and board-certified behavioral sleep medicine specialist. Dr. Thomas earned his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his clinical internship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the MIRECC at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in which he received specialized clinical and research training in behavioral sleep medicine. He is currently a co-investigator on an investigator-initiated grant (Inspire Medical Systems, Inc) investigating a digital insomnia intervention platform (NOCTEM COAST) to improve insomnia symptoms and adherence rates in Veterans with hypoglossal nerve stimulation devices.
