Dr. Rupcic’s research focuses on addressing the health-harming social needs of Veterans, especially Veterans experiencing intimate partner violence. She is passionate about developing justice-oriented approaches to care. At VA, she leads and collaborates on implementation and health services research that addresses the connections between healthcare and non-clinical problems like housing and financial hardship, especially among women Veterans. Her current research identifies implementation strategies for coordinating medical-legal services that are aligned with principles of person-centeredness and trauma-informed care. Her methodological expertise is in qualitative research, especially ethnography. As part of her advanced postdoctoral training, she is developing additional expertise in health systems research, implementation science, and quantitative methods.

Dr. Rupcic earned her PhD in Anthropology from the University of Michigan and holds a MPH from Columbia University’s School of Public Health. Her writing has been published in American Anthropologist, Feminist Anthropology, Medical Anthropology Quarterly, and other journals. Her research has been awarded funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Education, the Fulbright Program, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and others.
